Shattered Reflections

You look in the mirror, and you see someone else. It’s not the same face you remember from yesterday. Lines have deepened, shadows have formed, and there’s a sadness that lingers in the eyes. I thought I knew who I was, where I was going. But life has a way of shaking you up, breaking you down until you barely recognize yourself.

I’ve lost things. Important things. A marriage, a career, friends who promised they’d always be there. Each loss took a piece of me, and now I’m standing here, picking up the fragments of what used to be my life. They say time heals all wounds, but what if it just makes you numb? What if it just makes you… hollow?

I used to be someone who believed in the power of change, the beauty of transformation. Now, I don’t even know if I believe in anything anymore. The reality is harsh, unforgiving. Misfortune is a constant companion, whispering doubts into my ear. But in this brokenness, there is still a spark, a flicker of hope that maybe, just maybe, I can rebuild. Not the same as before, but something new. Something stronger.

You look in the mirror, and you see someone else. But maybe, just maybe, that someone can be someone better.
